Jennifer Ehle (pronounced EEEE-lee) first came to the attention of American fans in 1996. As a new comer to the scene, not much information could be found on her. She is the daughter of novelist John Ehle who coined The Journey of August King, Winter People. Her Mother is Rosemary Harris who is an actress.
Born in North Carolina on December 29, 1969 she moved frequently as her mother's profession demanded. She has attended over 18 schools. She attended the London's Central School of Speech and Drama. She dropped out in her final year to take the leading role in Sir Peter Hall's Channel 4's production of "The CamomileLawn" (with her mother playing her character aged).
Ehle's best known for her role as Elizabeth Bennet in the BBC/A&E Production of Pride and Prejudice. This role won her a 1996 BAFTA (a British Academy Award) for Best Actress in the Television category. She recently won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play by Tom Stoppard, The Real Thing. She plays the lead Annie. She can also be seen in the new release "Sunshine". Her first movie was 1993's "Backbeat" and she may also be seen in Paradise Road with her costars Glenn Close, Frances McDormand, Cate Blanchett, and Julianna Margulies. She has appeared in several of Alan Bleasdale's productions.
I am sure that we will be seeing more of Jennifer Ehle in the near future. She is just starting to make her mark in the American spotlight. Currently she resides in London, England.
