Biography

Jennifer Love Hewitt, who prefers to be called Love, was born on February 21, 1979 in Waco, Texas to Pat and Danny Hewitt. She has been performing since the age of nine when she joined a dance team in Texas. The team allowed Hewitt the opportunity to travel to Russia and Denmark. When she was ten she was an international spokesperson for LA Gear shoes. From there she went on to star in TV commercials for Mattel toys.

Realizing that Jennifer was a talented and gifted child, the Hewitt’s moved to Los Angeles to allow their daughter’s career to blossom. Blossom it did. From 1989 to 1991 she starred on the kids show “Kids INC.” as Robin. In 1991 she was in a Barbie dance workout video and in 1992 she was in the movie “Munchies.” In 1992 she came out with her first CD called “Love Songs,” which was only released in Japan.

The following year she landed her feature film debut in the hit “Sister Act.” In 1994 she got the role of Franny Byrd in the hit television show “Byrds of Paradise.” She came out with her second album, called “Lets Go Bang,” in 1995 but this time it was released in the United States. That same year proved to be a breakthrough for Jennifer. She landed the part of Sarah (Bailey’s girlfriend) in the much applauded “Party of Five.” Initially her role was to be a minor one, but the fans took to her pleasant personality and sweet and innocent good looks so much that she became a regular.

The challenge of starring in a hit TV show didn’t slow Hewitt down a bit. In 1996 she played Brooke Figler in the movie “House Arrest” and that same year she released her third album titled “Jennifer Love Hewitt.” She went on to star in yet another film in 1997. It was the blockbuster “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” co-starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillipe and Freddie Prinze Jr. That same year Hewitt starred in the movie “Can’t Hardly Wait” with Ethan Embry. Her next triumph was the sequel to “I Know What You Did Last Summer” called “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer” co-starring Brandy, Mekhi Phifer and Freddie Prinze Jr.

What’s more impressive is that Hewitt isn’t just waiting for the projects to come to her either. After she awoke one morning from a dream-filled night she was overtaken by an idea and wrote it down on paper. The paper soon became a story treatment which soon developed into a film, “Mary Me Jane,” which she will produce and star in herself. In fact, she is close to sealing a production deal with Columbia Pictures.

With her movie, and new television series, Love has still managed to find time for more. She will appear in Ben Stiller’s “The Suburbans” and ABC’s biopic of Audrey Hepburn.
