Biography

The star of the new television show "Dark Angel," Jessica Alba, was born April 28, 1981 to an Airforce father of Spanish/Mexican American background. (Jessica's mother is of French/Danish descent.) She was born in Pomona, California and while still a baby the family moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, at three they moved back to California and then to Del Rio, Texas. Eventually the family settled in southern California when Jessica was nine.

Jessica Marie Alba aspired to be an actress since the age of five. It wasn't until she was twelve that she started taking acting classes. Soon after she was signed by an agency. Jessica's big film debut came in 1993 when she was hired for a two week stint on the set of "Camp Nowhere." The two week job turned into a two month job when the lead actress suddenly left. Though it wasn't her acting ability but her hair color that got her the job as the lead actress, Jessica soon proved that she had the skills to carry it off.

Jessica's credits include "Camp Nowhere" (1993) playing "Gail," "Venus Rising" (1995) playing "Young Eve," "Flipper" (1995-97) TV Series playing "Maya," "Too Soon For Jeff" (1996) playing "Christy," "P.U.N.K.S" a.k.a. "Rebels" (1998) playing "Sam" (Samantha), "Idle Hands" (1999) playing "Molly," "Never Been Kissed" (1999) playing "Kirsten," "Dark Angel" (2000) playing "Sara Rutherds," and "Paranoid" (2000) playing Chloe." She has also had a number of guest appearances on such shows as " The Secret World of Alex Mack,""Chicago Hope," "Brooklyn South," "Beverly Hills 90210," and "Love Boat." If asked, Jessica a PADI-certified diver and an avid swimmer would say she had the most fun filming "Flipper" as it allowed her to participate in her two favorite activities as well as get to play with the dolphins.

In 1999 she was featured in a number of magazines and had a small role in "Never Been Kissed." Not long after, she landed a larger role in the film " Idle Hands." These two films served to bring her to the attention of the entertainment industries. The result of which was a starring role in " Paranoia" and James Cameron casting her in the lead of "Dark Angel."
