Born April 25, 1969, Renée Zellweger comes from a small town by the name of Katy, Texas. Zellweger has an older brother, Andrew, whom she attributes to getting her started in acting. As the story goes, Andrew was involved in the drama club at Katy High School and Zellweger followed him into the club. Not trusting to acting as a career, though, Zellweger enrolled in the University of Texas and completed a B.A in English. Sources say that Zellweger made the Dean's list every semester during University. While at University, Zellweger had a required drama course to take and it was during this course that she gave in to the idea of becoming an Actress.
Zellweger's career began with just small bit parts until she was cast for a role in "Jerry Maguire" (1996) with Tome Cruise. After this she was offered a number of roles in such films as "Liar", "Price Below Rubies", and others. Until recently though, her name hasn't really made the limelight. Her latest role as the lead in "The Diary of Bridget Jones", that she has proved her acting ability is worthy of respect. According to the latest news, Zellweger is slated to appear in "Lovers, Liars, and Thieves" with Robin Williams and Antonio Banderas as well as "White Oleander" with Michelle Pfeiffer. Both of these are movies that are in the works and are not slated for release until 2002.
Zellweger caught the attention of fans and Hollywood with "Jerry Maguire". She continues to wow critics with her versatility and has become one of the busier actresses. For awhile Zellweger dated comedian Jim Carrey but since then little is known about her personal life.
