Unconventional is the best way to describe Rose McGowan. Born in Tuscany, Florence, Italy and raised on a Children of God commune, McGowan flourishes as a shocker to the American Film Industry.

McGowan is the second oldest of a French writer mother and an Irish artist father. She was born on September 25, 1975 and resided in Italy until the age of ten. When she was ten her parents traded the Italian commune for a states commune and as a result, McGowan didn't learn to speak English until this time. Her schooling was far from conventional, and what little conventional schooling she did receive was thanks to her mother. At the age of fifteen, McGowan left the commune to strike out on her own. She worked at a number of minimum wage jobs, sometimes lying about her age to get them, and even lived on the street for awhile. Her first acting job was in 1992's Encino Man and it wasn't until three years latter that she acted again.

McGowan is best known for her work in such films as "Scream", "Bio-Dome" and "Phantoms." Much of her work can be seen in independent films though. Some critics describe her as the ultimate villain and her personal life has a tendency to reinforce this image. Until recently, McGowan was engaged to shocker rocker Marilyn Manson (Brian Warner).

McGowan views acting as a job. McGowan's passion though lies in the art world. Unlike her father, though, McGowan would like to work in the Museum field where she could influence the public's acceptance of art. She would like to open up the art world to the younger people.
