Biography

Lloyd Vernet Bridges III was born two days after the strike on Pearl Harbor during a blackout. Though his arrival into the world was marked with darkness, Beau as he is known, has had the privilege of seeing his name in lights since his first big break in 1967. To his family and the world he is known as Beau after the character in the book "Gone With The Wind" which Dorothy and Lloyd were reading at the time of his birth. Though Beau was only 5'10", his first career was as a basketball player for UCLA. He would attend the College for a year and then transfer to the University of Hawaii where he would eventually drop out to follow his father's footsteps.

Beau Bridges was born in Los Angeles, California on September 12, 1941. Since his father's life was in the entertainment field it only seemed natural that Beau and his brother Jeff would follow in his footsteps. Even though his father was well known, Beau seems to have had a steady career with a number of credits to his name. He has even had the privilege of working with his brother Jeff. Beau has won his share of awards for his acting but hasn't achieved the fame his brother Jeff has. This has not deterred him though. In 2000 he was involved in three films (Common Ground (2000), Songs in Ordinary Time (2000), The Christmas Secret (2000)) and in 2001 he already has one film to his credit, Voyage of the Unicorn. His acting ability ensures that he will continue to succeed in the wishy-washy world of entertainment.

In addition to his brother Jeff, Beau has a sister, Cindy, and four children (Dylan, Emily, Casey and Jordan). He has been married twice (Dylan and Emily are from his first marriage), and is still married to his second wife Wendy. Beau spends his free time playing the guitar and collecting Native American percussion instruments. He loves the ocean and spends time swimming and surfing. He is a sponsor of an underprivileged children's center called Venice Theater of The Performing Arts, and is active in environmental and gun control causes. One other note worthy item in his life is that he and his wife adopted son Casey, whom is a African-American boy.
