Born November 5th, 1959, Vancouver native Bryan Adams quit school at the age of 16 to go on tour with his first band, Shock. He then joined the semi-successful glam-rock band Sweeny Todd to perform on two of their albums before leaving the group for a solo career. Although his solo debut on A&M Canada in 1980 didn't make an impact on the market, his follow up album, You Want it, You Got It, in 1981 made him a star with the Canadian population.
It was in 1983 that Bryan Adams began to make a name for himself internationally. It was with the release of Cut's Like a Knife, which went platinum in less than a year. He supported the album by touring 283 days of that year as both headliner and opening act.
In 1984, Bryan released his fourth album, Reckless. Seen as his finest album to date, it contains six top ten songs including, Run To You, Heaven, Summer of '69, and It's Only Love. Heaven became his first #1 single in the U.S. and the Album went to #1 in the summer of 1985. Bryan Adams popularity sky-rocketed internationally and he toured the entire year of '85 and established himself as a highly entertaining live performer thanks to his no-frills, high-energy engagements. The album, Reckless, has sold more than 11 million copies worldwide.
His fifth album, Into the Fire, was released in 1987. Although it didn't fare as well in the market as Reckless, Adams toured for the remainder of 1987 and most of 1989 to promote it. Before his sixth album, Waking Up the Neighbours (1991), was released Bryan did a song for the feature film "Robin Hood." It was the single Everything I Do (I Do It For You). The song was one of the most successful singles in the history of music and it became #1 in over 20 countries including a record 16 weeks at #1 in the U.K. Bryan was once again a hot commodity in the music world and his sixth album contained numerous world-wide hits like, Can't Stop This Thing We Started, and There Will Never Be another Tonight. The band spent almost 2 full years touring for the album, which sold over 10 million units.
1993 saw the release of Bryan Adams' greatest hits compilation called So Far So Good and for the third time in his career his album sold over 10 million copies. He released two more songs for movies in 1993 and 1995. They were All For Love, for the film "Three Musketeers," and Have You Really Ever Loved a Woman, for the film "Don Juan De Marco." Both songs hit # 1. Since then, he has released his seventh studio album, 18 Till I Die, and it's his personal favorite to date.
Outside of concert tours and recording his own LP's, Bryan has collaborated with Luciano Pavarotti, Barbara Striesand, Tina Turner, Bonnie Raitt, Sting and Rod Stewart. He has also shown support for organizations such as Greenpeace and Amnesty International and in 194 he began a successful "Save The Wales" post-card campaign during his concerts which created a whale sanctuary in the Antarctic.
