Kevin Bacon was born July 8th, 1958 in Philadelphia, PA. He is the youngest of six children who was welcomed into a close knit family. He moved to New York when he was eighteen where her received stage training at Circle in the Square Theater with the distinction of being one of the youngest to be admitted.
After paying his dues in many small roles, he got his break in "Animal House". From there, acclaimed and prominent roles followed in such high-profile films as "Diner" and the now classic "Footloose". He went on to impress audiences with scattering virtuosity, and acting dynamic characters. His versatility was prominent with comedic roles in films like "She's Having A Baby to a brutal Killer part in "Criminal Law" opposite Gary Oldman.
Keven was then cast into major roles starring as a crafty marine attorney in "A Few Good Men" opposite Tom Cruise, to a family hijacker in "The River Wild" opposite Meryl Streep. 1995 was an especially good year for the actor, with a featured role in Ron Howard's hugely successful "Apolo 13" and garnering enormous acclaim for his role as a convict on trial for murder in "Murder In The First". He went on to star with Brad Pitt in "Sleepers" and with Jennifer Aniston in the romantic comedy "Picture Perfect"
He also sizzled on the stage. He made his Broadway debut in 1983 with Sean Penn in "Slab Boys" and has also appeared in such noted productions as "Spiked Heels" and "Loot". However, acting isn't the only thing Bacon likes to do onstage. Kevin and his brother, Michael, have formed a band - The Bacon Brothers. The name just about says it all. They play folk, rock, and soul in some small clubs in the east.
In addition, he has also tried out the director's chair. In 1996 he made his directorial debut in "Losing Chase". It was produced for Showtime and the film nabbed three Golden Globe nominations and was also screened at Robert Redford's Sundance Film Festival.
While working on the set of American Playhouse production, "Lemon Sky" in 1987, he met actress Kyra Sedgewick. The two were married in September of 1988 and share two children, Travis and Sosie Ruth Bacon. They currently live in New York and are both active in fundraising for charity.
Some of his latest movies include "Telling Lies In Americ", "Wild Things" and "A Stir Of Echoes". Kevin's most recent film is the sci-fi thriller/horror flick "Hollow Man" with Elisabeth Shue , Josh Brolin , Kim Dickens , and Joey Slotnick . It's about a team of scientists is assigned to a secret government research project to experiment with the possibility of invisibility. The film is loaded with special effects and technical tricks.
