Mark McGwire
- "Your puny ballparks are too small to contain my gargantuan blasts! Bring me the finest meats and cheeses for a
clubhouse feast!"
Derek Jeter - Smooth on the field and off, whether turning a double play or side-stepping a question, it’s hard to believe Jeter is a rookie. His poise and consistency helped carry the Yankees through the season and into October. If he isn’t elected AL Rookie of the Year, voters haven’t been watching baseball this season. Sammy Sosa - Did you know? Sammy was actually signed by the Philadelphia Phillies at age 15. He was later brought back because of his age. Ken Griffey Jr. - I'm not a home-run hitter, Ken Griffey Jr. likes to say. Well, he sure isn't a singles hitter. Griffey finally got his MVP Award after leading the American League with 125 runs, 56 home runs, 147 RBI, 393 total bases and a .646 slugging percentage. He erupted with 13 home runs in April, and only a 25-game stretch in June and July when he hit only one homer while battling a sore hamstring prevented him from reaching 61. Cal Ripkin Jr. - Cal Ripken has built up a highlight-reel of memories with the Baltimore Orioles. Among these memories are his consecutive games-played streak of 2632, two MVP awards, and a trip to the World Series. |
